A Zone is any room or space that typically listens to or watches the same source of music or video. It can be large or small, but generally is defined by a single TV or 2 to 4 speakers and a single volume control.
A Server is any computerised process that shares a resource to one or more client processes. Here the Server is where your media is stored and shared throughout your rooms.
Ripping is the process of copying audio or video content to a hard disk, typically from removable media and refers to all forms of media. Despite the name, neither the media nor the data on it is damaged after extraction.
